The Atomic Elbow issue 8 is on sale now!

Hello again.

I made another issue, because that's what I do.

Maybe some of these photos aren't the best, but you know what ink on paper looks like, right? I'm counting on you for that much. You're one of the good ones. Always have been.

Anyway, wrestling fanzines, right? RIGHT!

Here's what this one's got for you:

More words about that infernal Hulk Hogan cartoon. That thing haunts my dreams. Anyway, you can read about it rather than watching it, and frankly anything you do to avoid watching it is a good plan.

There's an article about everybody's favorite rapper John Cena by the Wil Jones, the editor of everybody's favorite action movie fanzine.

Scott Holland's back with an analysis of the 1994 Royal Rumble.

Issue 8 has an in-depth interview with Justin "Marion Fontaine" Nottke, the man behind The Extravaganza of Wrestling Exhibitions, among other things.

Kieran Shiach of the Have A Nice Day Podcast wrote an article about Biker Undertaker and Santino Marella (and some other stuff).

I went to the Superstars of Wrestling Fanfest in Rome, Georgia and wrote a little bit about it. Also some stuff about bookstore cats and Thai restaurants.

This one also has comics and drawings from the following artists:

and

So, yeah, maybe you would like to buy a copy? I hope you would like to do that. It's only five dollars, which still includes postage in the USA. Why not head on over to The Atomic Elbow Online Store and buy one now? We would both be glad if you did. (By "both," I mean both me and you. That sentence looks a little weird. It's not like I've got a "Basket Case" situation going on over here. I'm still just one dude. Anyway, thanks.)

The Atomic Elbow Issue 7.

Hello!

That's the 7th issue of The Atomic Elbow right there. It's ready for you to order in The Atomic Elbow Online Store right now!

This one's got a wrap-around cover!

That's great, right? But I'll bet you want to know what's inside. Okay. This one has:

An article about wrestling superstar Virgil, written and illustrated by Corwin Gibson!

A report on the Chikara Tag World Grand Prix Tournament by Ed Blair!

An absolutely incredible comic by Kyle Starks!

Some thoughts on Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake from Scott T. "Star of Savage" Holland!

And an article I wrote that is (mostly) about the episode of Nitro on which "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan wrestled Bill Goldberg. This also features an illustration by Beaver that is so good you're gonna have to buy the 'zine to see it.

It's still only five dollars. That includes postage in the USA. Head on over to The Atomic Elbow Online Store to get yours.

Oh, and hey, the collection of the first four issues of The Atomic Elbow is now available from the good folks at Evil Weevil Records. I have a very small amount of individual copies of issues 1, 2, and 3. I have reduced the price on these to $3.00. These will not be reprinted now that the book exists. It's cheaper to buy the book, really, but I'm selling these at my cost plus postage just to get 'em out of the house. Thanks! Now go buy things from me!

This thing is going to happen!

The publisher of my book has a proof back from the printer. It won't be long now!

Thanks for your patience, everyone.

The Atomic Elbow: Issue 6

Hey, everybody! Issue 6 is here. Hooray!

This one's got all the good times you have come to expect from an issue of The Atomic Elbow. You guys expect good times, right? You're not just reading this to make fun of me? This isn't just some huge, elaborate, prank? Oh, no. Now I'm second guessing myself. What if this is some huge, elaborate prank and you are all in on it? I am so mad at you right now.

Unless that isn't true. Now, you're all my friends again. Sorry for freaking out on you guys back there.

Hey, so what's in this issue, anyway?

Well, there's another episode guide to Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N' Wrestling, a project that is probably going to take me a lot longer to complete than I thought it would.

There's an article about the WWE Divas.

There's an interview with Dr. Sharon Mazer, Program Coordinator of the Department of Theater and Film Studies at Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand. Seriously.

Wil of Kill You Last fanzine writes about a British reality show called Celebrity Wrestling and also writes about Doctor Who a little bit.

Stewart Voegtlin brings us an exclusive interview with Andy Kaufman. Beaver's illustration for this one is so amazingly good that I'm not going to show it to you.

And I wrote about eight million words about the UWF Beach Brawl from 1991. This article tells you where the nearest JC Penney store to Palmetto, Florida is.

So, yeah, what are you waiting for? All this is still only $5, which includes shipping in the U.S. of A. so head on over to the Atomic Elbow Online Store and order yours today.

THIS IMPORTANT, SO PLEASE READ IT BEFORE YOU ORDER:
I may not be able to ship the orders from this week for a few days, so if you are ordering during the week of Monday, June 17th through Sunday, June 23rd, it may take a little longer than normal for your order to arrive. I'm sorry about this, but it can't be helped.

Also, please remember to pre-order your copy of the single volume collection of the first four issues. The individual issues are still for sale in the store, but I only have 10 or fewer copies of each issue and it's less expensive to buy the book anyway. These will not be reprinted as individual issues when my stock on hand runs out.

Thanks, everyone.

Last chance for the Atomic Elbow first t-shirt design.

I have 13 remaining green Atomic Elbow t-shirts. They look like this:

They're about that wrinkled, too. They rode back from Charlotte after Heroes Con stuffed in a box. You can iron yours when it arrives.

Anyway, look... I only have 13 of these and I think this is the last time I'm going to print this design, at least for a while. I'll probably make another t-shirt later, but not right now. They are still nine dollars plus shipping. Here is the size breakdown of what is in stock (the list below is current as of 8:10 pm eastern time, June 10, 2012):

  • 1 size XXXL
  • 1 size XXL
  • 4 size XL  1 size XL
  • 1 size L
  • 3 size M
  • 4 size S 1 size S
I probably won't be around my computer all day, so if you order one, especially in the sizes that I only have one of, there's a chance you'll get a refund instead of a shirt. Not that I'm super popular and that demand is that high, I just want to prepare you for that possibility. I'm not in the wrestling fanzine game to make anybody sad.

Speaking of wrestling fanzines, all five issues are back in stock. They still cost five dollars each, but I think maybe that is unfair since you can now pre-order the book which collects the first four issues from the good people at Evil Weevil records. That book only costs ten dollars, so it's cheaper than the individual fanzines. I will very likely reduce the price of the individual copies of issues one through four once this book is printed. I will not be reprinting issues one through four. What I have left is all there will be. I have about 15 copies of each issue remaining.

I'm not sure if issues 5, 6, 7, and 8 will be collected in this manner. So if you think you shouldn't buy those when they come out because you're waiting for the collection, that may or may not work out to your advantage.

Issue 6 is basically done. I'm waiting on a couple of things and I have a little bit of editing to do, but I think it should be out sometime in the next 2 weeks.

You can order the shirt and the 'zines over at the Atomic Elbow Online Store.

Thanks so much to all of you for supporting my silly wrestling fanzine. You guys are the best.

The Atomic Elbow Number 6 is coming soon!

Issue 6 features an interview with Dr. Sharon Mazer, Coordinator of the Theater and Film Studies Program at Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand.

YES, I AM SERIOUS.

So, here's the deal on those purple and yellow shirts.

On saturday, I went to FLUKE and I sold some things. Among those things were some of the 2nd pressing of the Atomic Elbow t-shirt.

I had 12 of them. Then I said something about them online and then 12 people bought shirts.

Here is what I have left as of right now:
  • Nothing
I apologize to the people who had asked me about larger sizes. I completely sold out of XXL and XXXL shirts on Saturday. I will make more of this shirt (on a different color) sometime this summer. In the meantime, if you want one of the sizes listed above, go get it now at the Atomic Elbow Online Store. They're still nine dollars, but I'm charging fifty cents more for postage than I did for the first pressing of this shirt because postage rates went up and I lost my job, so I have to pay for envelopes now. Sorry...

Oh, and Issue 6 should be out in late June, a single-volume collection of issues 1-4 is planned for the summer, and I should have new stickers in about a month. Issues 1, 2, 3, and 5 are still available in the store.

Atomic Elbow T-shirts: Second Pressing.

More Atomic Elbow t-shirts were made. This time they're yellow on purple.

Thanks to everyone at Shirtworks in Athens for their help with these.

They will be available at FLUKE 2013 on April 6th and any that remain after that will go on sale at the Atomic Elbow Online Store. They're still gonna be $9 but I may have to slightly increase shipping charges. More than slightly if you live outside the United States. I'll let you know.

There is a somewhat embarrassing error in the first printing of the 5th issue of The Atomic Elbow. If you have already purchased the 5th issue, please download and print this document.

Thank you.

The Atomic Elbow Number Five.

Remember how King Kong Bundy used to make the referee count to five when he pinned whoever it was he was wrestling against? And now, on his Twitter account, he ends everything he posts with a big all-caps "FIVE" or whatever? I'm not sure what this has to do with anything really except that every time I think about issue number five, I picture Bundy standing there, five fingers spread out, braggin'.

Anyway, the fifth issue of The Atomic Elbow is done.

It's got a lot of stuff about Hulk Hogan in it. I'm not sure how that happened, but it did. By the way, that's Ray "The Crippler" Stevens on the cover. I don't know who the unfortunate man on the mat is. This one starts off with a pretty comprehensive history of Monday Night Raw in Chicago from Scott T. Holland.

There's an interview with Reed Bentley from Wrestling is Heart.

Then the Hulk Hogan content starts up with an article from Danielle Matheson of The Mandible Claw.

This issue also features part one of an ongoing series that will be the ultimate episode guide to Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling.

Stewart Voegtlin and Beaver of (among other things) Chips & Beer magazine are back. This time they're focusing on Dusty Rhodes and his gross, disgusting eyeball.

There's also an examination of the AWA's Super Sunday from 1983. Hulk Hogan's in this one, too.

This issue's ready and waiting for you in the Atomic Elbow online store. I've also re-stocked the previously out-of-print issues 1, 2, and 3. I think this will be the last time those are reprinted. I'm planning a single volume compilation of the first four issues. It will probably be out this summer. But we're not here to talk about that now, are we? Go get your copy of issue number five! Thanks!
